How do I make an appointment?

Schedule your appointment at WC Online.

Who can visit the Writing Center?

Any USU student, regardless of major, is welcome to visit the Writing Center, free of charge, for any piece of writing—academic or personal.

What are the Writing Center’s hours of operation?

Our Writing Center hours vary by location. See our Hours & Locations page for more information.

How will my teacher know I’ve been to the Writing Center?

At the end of each session, your tutor will send out an email form to you, detailing what you talked about during your session. You will need to forward this email to your teacher so they will know when you came to the Writing Center and what you talked about during your appointment.

What should I bring and what kinds of questions should I ask in the session?

If you have a draft of your paper, we encourage you to send it to your tutor before your appointment. If you haven’t written anything yet, that’s ok too! During the appointment, we can address whatever concerns you have about your paper. It’s up to you what to discuss during the appointment—whether that’s just brainstorming, your thesis, paragraph transitions, or whatever else you may be concerned about. Keep in mind that we are not just here to edit your paper—we are here to help you become a better writer.

What does an Online Writing Center appointment look like?

We now offer a variety of online appointments. Review your options here.

Who are the tutors?

Our tutors are USU students from majors all across campus. If you would like more information, you can look at the tutor information page.

What if none of the Writing Center’s hours are convenient for me?

Our tutors add new online tutoring hours throughout the week, so make sure you check back for new appointment openings often. If you cannot schedule an online meeting with a tutor, consider signing up for emailed feedback (asynchronous tutoring). Is the Writing Center only online?

Due to concerns about our tight quarters, the Writing Center will remain online-only through the Fall 2020 semester. Our tutors are now trained to specifically help you in an online environment and can assist you at any stage of the writing process. Please reach out to us at if you have any questions about our online setup.
